ACLS in Classroom
This course follows the AHA ACLS renewal agenda. It is for medical providers who have taken ACLS in the past OR students enrolled in a medical program. If you have never taken ACLS before and are not a student, please contact us for your options. Students must complete online Pre-Course Assessment modules on the Student website (www.heart.org/eccstudent). Code to access pre-course assessment is acls15. A passing score for the assessment is 70%, and it may be taken an unlimited number of times. Students will need to bring Precourse Self-Assessment certificate to class. Students will be turned away if they do not have this.

The Basic First Aid class will be taught by a healthcare professional and cover the basics of caring for common medical problems, how to make/use first aid kits, and other fun activities. This activity qualifies a Brownie or Junior to receive their First Aid merit badge.

Course Description

The American Heart Association BLS CPR Instructor course is for anyone wanting to teach CPR in the workplace or community.

This class certifies you to teach BLS for Healthcare Providers, Heartsaver First Aid and CPR/AED.

Prerequisites (not included in cost of course):

1. Have a current American Heart Association BLS Provider card. (Heartsaver and Red Cross certifications are not accepted).

2. Purchase the BLS Instructor Manual and Student Manual (Needed for steps 3 & 4). Purchase from http://shop.aha.channing-bete.com/onlinestore/store.html?cid=135896)

3. Complete 'BLS Instructors Essentials Online' (This will be sent to you 1-2 weeks prior to class)

4. Complete the BLS Instructor course (day 1)

5. Successfully teach a BLS Provider course while being monitored (day 2). If you do not want to be monitored on the 2nd day, you have up to 6 months to choose an alternate monitoring date. Billing is $50/hr for monitoring on an alternate date.

**The AHA requires a minimum of 3 instructor candidates in order to hold a course. We will cancel this class 30 days prior if that minimum has not been met.

The Family & Friends Infant CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.

Course Description

Learn how to apply your urban emergency care knowledge in wilderness settings. This course takes place just outside of downtown Knoxville. Registrants will be contacted about further paperwork that is required before coming to the course. Curiculum taught through NOLS Wilderness Medecine Institute.

RECOMMENDED FOR: 
EMT's, nurses, physicians, and other medical professionals.
PREREQUISITES: 
Current State healthcare provider license. 

COST: 
Deposit of $350 is due upon enrollment. Tuition of $345 is due 30-days prior to course. Deposit is non-refundable if canceled less than 30 days prior to course.

LODGING & MEALS:
Lodging and meals are not provided, but you can contact us for a list of recommended locations of varying price levels. A full kitchen will be available at the class location.
